Wildwood

As we have some wonderful woodland close to home, trees and woodland are what I do and where I like to go with my camera, for pleasure and for practice. A high proportion of this selection are from close to home, some walking distance.

Woodland feels like a vital subject as trees stand as icons of nature and the wild world, and the (potential) great age of trees reminds us of the arc of history. The importance and utility of trees in human history is impossible to overestimate…home, tools, weapons, construction material, furniture, musical instruments, artworks…the debt we owe to trees and wood is incalculable. It seems only right that we also find time to admire and appreciate their beauty and significance.
